The Kas glute bridge is one of my favourites for isolation. It’s an isometric hold at the top with a small range of motion – you’re not lowering much, just pulsing slightly at peak contraction. The time under tension is brutal in the best way.
Progress to a loaded barbell across your hips if you have access to one. At home, a heavy dumbbell works fine. Add pause reps – 3-5 seconds at the top or the bottom of each rep. This eliminates momentum and forces the muscle to actually do the work.
Single-leg hip thrusts and deficit hip thrusts (feet elevated on a step to increase ROM) are both hard progressions once you’ve got the standard version dialled in. Increase time under tension with 3-5 second eccentrics to drive hypertrophy without needing heavier loads.
